1. When is a good age to start piano lessons?

Each child develops differently but most can begin around age 4.5 to 5 when they show basic finger control, the ability to focus, interest in music, and understanding of instructions.

Adults can begin at any age. It is never too late to start your musical journey.

2. How long are lessons and where do they take place?

Lessons are held weekly in my home studio at Kennedy and Denison. Sessions are offered in 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Thirty minutes is recommended for young beginners, 45 minutes is ideal for students age 7 and up, and 60 minutes is suitable for early advanced students.

Lessons follow the school year calendar for consistent progress.

3. What is included in lessons?

Each lesson includes healthy injury-free piano technique, music theory that supports playing and understanding music, repertoire chosen based on student interests and skills, and sight-reading and solfège exercises (short singing exercises to build musicianship).

4. Do you offer performance opportunities?

I organize at least one annual recital, where students are encouraged to participate. I also support students preparing for music exams and competitions, focusing on building confidence and providing positive performance experiences.

5. What about lesson rates and scheduling?

For information about lesson lengths, rates, and available time slots, please contact me through the inquiry form. I will follow up to discuss your goals and find the best schedule for your child,

6. How much practice is expected?

Daily practice is ideal, with duration varying by age and level. Beginners typically start with 10–15 minutes per day and gradually increase as their skill level improves. Focus on specific, achievable goals rather than counting minutes. Focused, purposeful practice is more effective than longer, unfocused sessions.

7. How do you handle motivation challenges?

Open communication is key. Understanding why a student is struggling helps me adjust the teaching approach. Learning piano requires dedication, and building skill and confidence takes time and consistent effort.

8. What is your teaching style?

Following my Inspire · Nurture · Empower philosophy, lessons emphasize building strong technical foundations, encouraging creativity and self-expression, providing personalized guidance, and developing confidence and independence.

9. How can parents support their child’s learning?

Parents can help by encouraging regular focused practice, communicating openly about challenges and successes, celebrating progress and milestones, and helping create a positive, distraction-free practice environment.

10. What can my child benefit from lessons?

Students gain musical skills, confidence, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities. Lessons also provide opportunities for performance, collaboration, and personal growth, making music a meaningful part of their lives.
